The Tribunal has two parts; the secretariat and members. Both work together during the appeal and claim process, doing different jobs.
Secretariat
The secretariat is responsible for Tribunal administration. The secretary is the head of administration. The secretariat will deal with registering your appeal or claim, write to you for more information, be able to tell you when and where your appeal or claim is going to be heard and will clerk your hearing.

Members
SENTW is headed by the Tribunal’s President. The President is responsible for the members, and for making certain decisions about appeals and claims. The President of the Tribunal is appointed by the Lord Chancellor and must be a barrister or solicitor of at least seven years' experience.
Tribunal hearings are managed by a chairperson, who must also have a legal qualification. They will write and sign decisions, advise you of adjournments and set directions where necessary.
Educational panel members also have an important role at hearings. These members have been selected for their knowledge and experience of children with special educational needs. Members will ask questions during your hearing and together with the chair, they will make a decision about your appeal or claim.
A number of members are fluent Welsh speakers and able to hear your appeal in Welsh or English.
